Immunogen Synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 6-23 of human CaMKII.
Beschreibung CaMKII is a serine/threonine kinase that is activated by calcium ions (Ca2+) and theCa2+/calmodulin complex (CaM). CaMKII is expressed in glutamatergic excitatoryneurones and constitutes the major postsynaptic density protein. It is important in theregulation of synaptic transmission, with possible roles in learning and memory. CaMKIIcomprises multiple isoforms that are derived from four closely related gene products,alpha, beta, gamma and delta, that have distinct but overlapping expression patterns. Decreased alpha CaMKII autophosphorylation capability in the hippocampus is associatedwith Angelman syndrome, which is associated with mental retardation.
