Beschreibung
|
IkappaB-alpha is an inhibitory protein that binds the NFkappaB complex and retains this complex in the cytoplasm where it cannot activate transcription. Upon cellular stimulation, the IkappaB proteins are phosphorylated and degraded via the ubiquitin pathway allowing nuclear translocation of NFkappaB. The NFkappaB complex binds DNA to activate gene expression of a number of a variety of proteins involved in inflammation, cellular proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. Poly6249 recognizes the C-terminal region of human, mouse, rat IKB-alpha and has been shown to be useful for Western blotting, immunoprecipitation, and immunohistochemistry. Distribution: Cytoplasm Function: Regulates transcriptional activity of NFkappaB by binding complex and trapping in the cytoplasm. Serine phosphorylation of IkappaB proteins targets them for destruction via the ubiquitination pathway and allows the NFkappaB complex to translocate to nucleus and bind DNA to activate transcription.
