REST uses a different temporary off mechanism to direct neuronaldevelopment. REST is a tumor suppressor gene in epithelial cells and has been found to be mutatedin 33 percent of colorectal tumors and cell lines studied. Rest could eventually serve asa marker for diagnosing colorectal and other types of cancer.

Detection of Human REST by Western Blot of Immunprecipitate. Samples: Whole cell lysate (1 mg for IP, 1/4 of IP reaction loaded). Antibodies: Affinity purified rabbit anti-REST antibodies ABIN152175 and ABIN152176 used at 3 ug/mg lysate for IP. Immunoprecipitated REST was blotted using ABIN152176 at 0.1 ug/ml.
