Immunogen: The epitope recognized by this antibody maps to a region between residues 800 and850 of human RE1-silencing transcription factor using the numbering given in entryNP_005603.2 (GeneID 5978).

Beschreibung: REST, which is short for RE1-silencing transcription factor, locks down neuronal genesin other cells by grabbing onto the DNA and cementing in other molecules, anarrangement that stays intact as non-neuronal cells differentiate into liver, muscle, andother tissues. REST uses a different temporary off mechanism to direct neuronaldevelopment.REST is a tumor suppressor gene in epithelial cells and has been found to be mutatedin 33 percent of colorectal tumors and cell lines studied. Rest could eventually serve asa marker for diagnosing colorectal and other types of cancer. Histo/Cytochemistry: not tested.In some cases, the antibody may be diluted further than indicated.

Detection of Human REST by Western Blot of Immunprecipitate. Samples: Whole cell lysate (1 mg for IP, 1/4 of IP reaction loaded). Antibodies: Affinity purified rabbit anti-REST antibodies ABIN152175 and ABIN152176 used at 3 ug/mg lysate for IP. Immunoprecipitated REST was blotted using ABIN152176 at 0.1 ug/ml. REST was more efficiently immunoprecipitated by ABIN152175 than by ABIN152176. Detection: Chemiluminescence with an exposure time of 30 seconds (A and B).
