Beschreibung: The anti-Atlantic salmon Ig monoclonal antibody is used to detect salmonid para- sites (bacteria or viruses) indirectly by detecting the Atlantic salmon immunoglobins. This clone recognizes the immunoglobin heavy chain found in Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) as well as some of the Oncorhynchus species (although at about ½ the strength as Atlantic Salmon). By using the anti-Atlantic salmon Ig mAb, specific antibodies for each fish para- site are not needed to identify infecting bacteria and viruses. Instead, the naturally occurring salmon antibodies (present in increased numbers in infected fish) are used. ELISA plates can be coated with known fish parasites and screened with the infected serum to determine the parasite. This mAb can also be used to detect unknown parasites by monitoring the level of Igs in an Atlantic salmon. An in- creased level could indicate infection.

Applikationshinweise: Specific uses for this monoclonal antibody include ELISA, Western blots (produces a faint band) and immunofluorescence (ie. FACS).

Lagerung: Store at -20°C or below before reconstitution. Reconstitute with 0.5 ml of cold distilled water. Store unused portions at 4°C; include preservative, if possible, to avoid contaminating growth (ie. 0.05% sodium azide or 0.05% thimerosal). It is possible to aliquot and freeze unused portions however the titre of the antibody may drop after freeze/thawing. If slight turbidity appears, clarify by centrifugation before use.
