Beschreibung: Adenoviruses are DNA viruses generally widespread in nature that are frequently the causeof acute upper respiratory tract infections (i. e. common colds). Forty-seven knownserotypes have been isolated since they were first discovered in 1953 with 3 types knownto cause gastroenteritis. Several types have oncogenic potential though most causeself-limiting febrile illnesses characterised by inflammation of conjunctivae and therespiratory tract. The virus can be isolated from the majority of tonsils/adenoids surgicallyremoved, indicating latent infections. It is not known how long the virus can persist in thebody, or whether it is capable of reactivation after long periods. In patients experiencingimmunosuppression (e. g. AIDS) it can be reactivated causing disease. Hexon protein is a major coat protein of adenoviruses. Adenoviruses capsids have threeprincipal protein components: the hexon, the penton, and the fiber. Hexon consists ofthree subunits together forming two major components of different morphologicalsymmetry. A triangular top with three towers of density is superimposed on a more bulkypseudo hexagonal base. The symmetry of the top is in accord with the trimeric nature ofhexon, but that of the base derives from the molecular function, which is to provide adensely packed impenetrable protective outer layer for the virion.

Spezifität: This Adenovirus antibody reacts with Numerous Adenovirus proteins including hexon. Reacts with Adenovirus types 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. Does not cross-react with Para 1-3, Influenza A & B, RSV, human MPV & Rhinovirus (type16). Negative against HEp-2, LLCMK2 and Vero cells by indirect immunofluorescence. Add. Anwendungen

Applikationshinweise: Suitable for use in ELISA (Detection, use BM3186 as capture antibody),Immunocytochemistry and Western blot. Other applications not tested. Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.
