Beschreibung	ACTH, released from the anterior pituitary gland in response to corticotropin-releasing hormone from the hypothalamus, acts on the adrenal cortex to stimulate the production of corticosteroids such as cortisol, involved in the response to stress. Studies have shown that the administration of 1-24 ACTH increases blood pressure, believed to be attributed to an increase in ACTH-stimulated cortisol secretion, in association with increased cardiac output.

Spezifität	This antibody recognises 1-24 ACTH (Synacthen) which, as a synthetic analogue of naturally- occurring Adrenocorticotropic Hormone, can be used to measure adrenal reserve and for the diagnosis of adrenal insufficiency by acute adrenocortical stimulation. It does not recognise 17-39 ACTH (CLIP).

Applikationshinweise	Immunohistochemistry on formalin fixed, paraffin embedded sections. ELISA (sandwich and simple). Other applications not tested. Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.
