Results shown that the previously reported association of an ACYP2 variant with cisplatin-induced hearing loss in pediatric brain tumor patients could be replicated in an independent cohort of patients with osteosarcoma. Therefor, the ACYP2 variant should be considered a predictor of cisplatin-induced hearing loss in patients with osteosarcoma or other solid tumors
These findings suggest a minor role of the single nucleotide polymorphisms of ACYP2 investigated as genetic determinants of chronic oxaliplatin-induced peripheral neurotoxicity.
The ACYP2 risk variant strongly predisposed these patients to precipitous hearing loss and was related to ototoxicity severity.
effects of 40 single point mutations on the conversion of the denatured form of the alpha/beta protein acylphosphatase (AcP) into insoluble aggregates
Acylphosphatase can hydrolyze the phosphoenzyme intermediate of different membrane pumps, particularly the Ca2+/Mg2+-ATPase from sarcoplasmic reticulum of skeletal muscle. Two isoenzymes have been isolated, called muscle acylphosphatase and erythrocyte acylphosphatase on the basis of their tissue localization. This gene encodes the muscle-type isoform (MT). An increase of the MT isoform is associated with muscle differentiation.
